of Sticky Learning – MBM – Trainers to the UK Grocery Industry. The Groceries Code Adjudicator is also known
as the ‘Grocery Tsar’ and the ‘Grocery Ombudsman’. This role was approved by Parliament
in 2013 with the objective of protecting the consumer from supermarkets that might be dominating
the UK Grocery industry and leveraging their size. Christine Tacon was appointed to the role.
Previously Marketing Director at Anchor Foods and currently also a Non-Executive Director
at the Met Office and Anglia Framers, Christine’s role as groceries code adjudicator is to ensure
that GSCOP – The Groceries Supply Code of Practice – is implemented and complied with
by the 10 retailers that it covers. Christine and the Grocery Code Adjudicator’s
office has recently been in the press for their Tesco investigation and the subsequent
report. Their recommendations to Tesco are the first of their kind and if Tesco do not
implement them Christine has the power to find the supermarket 1% of their sales. For
Tesco this could be over £500m. To understand more the groceries code adjudicator
